In 2023, Suzhou achieved a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of about 2.47 trillion yuan ($343.57 billion), a 4.6-percent increase compared to the previous year.
The city's fixed asset investment reached 603.12 billion yuan in 2023, a 5-percent increase from the previous year.
Over the past year, Suzhou's innovation entities have continued to grow. By the end of 2023, there were a total of 15,717 high-tech enterprises in the city, with 25,418 national-level technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.
It also had a total of 925,000 enterprises, a 5.4-percent increase from the previous year. Throughout the year, 23 new companies were listed domestically and internationally, including 20 A-share listed companies domestically, ranking third nationwide. The total number of listed companies at the end of the year was 263, including 217 A-share listed companies domestically, ranking fifth nationwide.
The income level of Suzhou residents steadily increased.
The per capita disposable income for all residents of Suzhou reached 74,076 yuan, a 4.6-percent year-on-year increase. Specifically, urban residents' per capita disposable income was 82,989 yuan, a 4.3-percent increase, while rural residents' per capita disposable income was 46,385 yuan, a 5.9-percent increase.
