The national-level Changshu Economic & Technological Development Zone – located in Changshu, a county-level city administered by Suzhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – was established in 1992 and by all accounts continues to thrive.

It has one of the top 10 inland river ports in China – Changshu Port – and is home to more than 600 internationally funded companies from more than 20 countries and regions.

It has formed key manufacturing clusters including the automobiles and auto parts, fine chemicals, high-grade paper, marine equipment and specialty steel industries.

It ranked seventh in the comprehensive evaluation of scientific development in the economic and development zones in Jiangsu and last year it won the title of advanced area for promoting high-quality development in Suzhou.
