China remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining high-level openness to international engagement and defending the lawful rights of all market participants, said the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.

Speaking at a news conference in Beijing, He Yadong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, said that China has always handled the issue of the unreliable entity list with caution, targeting only a few foreign entities that threaten national security.

"Foreign entities that comply with the law have no cause for concern," said He, stressing the Chinese government continues to invite businesses from across the globe to invest and flourish in China, striving to offer a stable, equitable and predictable operating environment for foreign companies that adhere to local regulations.

The commerce official reiterated that China remains committed to a green and low-carbon development path, actively promoting and supporting the transformation of all industries toward more sustainable and low-carbon alternatives.

Noting that some countries and regions are currently straying from the principles of green growth and violating market economy standards, He said they have breached the World Trade Organization rules by implementing restrictive measures in the new energy vehicle sector, "We believe that these measures not only disadvantage consumers in these places but also impede global progress in green transformation and efforts to combat climate change," he added.
