Suzhou Mayor Wu Qingwen hosted online meetings on June 8 with the head offices of two foreign biopharmaceutical enterprises - Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche Group and German provider of dialysis products and services Fresenius Medical Care.

The meeting was part of Suzhou's efforts to strengthen its openness and innovation and deepen cooperation with multinational enterprises to develop into a world-class biomedical hub.

During the meeting, Wu Qingwen expressed his gratitude to foreign-funded enterprises that have continued to support and invest in Suzhou.

Wu said that Suzhou is a historical city with strong vitality and innovative capabilities. As one of the regions with the most active foreign capital investment and the most promising development trends, Suzhou has been making efforts to open up and optimize its business environment to support and serve the development of multinational enterprises.

Wu added that Suzhou is carrying out policy and institutional innovation, applying for system-integration innovation throughout the entire biopharmaceutical industrial chain, and making efforts to accelerate the development of the biopharmaceutical industry. The city expects further cooperation and investment from the two leading biopharmaceutical enterprises and for more high-quality projects, advanced technologies and innovative concepts to develop in Suzhou.

The heads of both Roche Group and Fresenius Medical Care spoke highly of the industrial foundation and business environment of Suzhou during the meeting.
