The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was established in 1957. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and Guangdong province's government and organized by the China Foreign Trade Center, it is held every spring and autumn in the port city of Guangzhou, in South China.

The Canton Fair is a comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, the biggest scale, the most complete variety of exhibits, the largest buyer attendance, the broadest distribution of buyer source countries and the greatest business turnover of its kind in China.

The 129th session of the China Import and Export Fair was held online and offline on April 15-24. By further integrating its news releases online, exhibitions and live-streaming on its official website, the 10-day Canton Fair was widely seen as being an efficient one-stop trade platform that reportedly demonstrated the best and latest achievements of exhibitors and their products.

With a total of 818 stands and 382 companies and businesses that were represented, the city of Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province took full part in the 129th session of the Canton Fair –including 23 that were new exhibitors at the event.

In face of the novel coronavirus outbreak, battered global trade, as well as unpredictable policy changes and exchange rate fluctuations, the Suzhou enterprises showed initiative.

They will reportedly actively seize the opportunities springing from the Canton Fair to stabilize export orders and strive to improve the international competitiveness of their products, achieving high quality development in the future.
