Double 12 Shopping Festival to kick off

The warm-up to the second Suzhou Double 12 Shopping Festival will start in October and November. The festival will officially kick off in December and last until February next year.

During the shopping festival, there will be various activities every day, highlights every week and different themes every month.

01 Different themes every month

In October, a global catering and delicacy promotion activity will be held along with the launch of Suzhou seasonal delicacies.

In November, the cross-border shopping season will take the China International Import Expo and "Double 11" as an opportunity to carry out product promotion and cross-border e-commerce activities.

In December, the "Online Shopping" live-streaming season will take the "Double 12 Shopping Festival" as an opportunity to launch trendy and unique activities such as selling goods through live-streaming, letting people get interested in funny things through social activities, and shop visits and check-ins.

In January, "Benefit the New Year" discount season in the city will highlight the characteristics of New Year's purchases. Key shopping platforms and business enterprises will carry out discount activities to increase consumption before the holiday.

In February, the "Everything Gets New" trendy enjoyment season will highlight the characteristics of Spring Festival folk customs, carry out a series of cultural and tourism, and new trendy product releases and other activities to further stimulate the Spring Festival consumer market.

02 Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the shopping festival will be held on the evening of December 11. The main venue is planned to be set at the Cultural Expo Center in Suzhou Industrial Park. Local key companies such as Cobos, Goodbaby and Bosideng will launch their new products along with the fourth round of the digital RMB release.

Meanwhile, the "Treasure Hunt in Suzhou" exhibition and sales event will be held from December 10 to 13. The exhibition area with many shopping scenes will cover an area of about 13,000 square meters.

Nearly 200 well-known brands in the Yangtze River Delta region will provide large-scale discounts. There will be exhibitions and sales activities for special products from Germany, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and other countries and regions, featuring more immersive experiences and the integration of new shopping models.

03 Major activities with various characteristics

During the shopping festival, Suzhou will launch a series of consumption promotion activities involving online consumption, business district consumption, automobile consumption and home improvement consumption.

Alibaba, JD.com, Suning, Pinduoduo, Hema Fresh, Dingdong Grocery and other top platforms will open up a special area for the "Double 12 Suzhou Shopping Festival", providing customers with subsidies, coupons and discounts.

Suzhou will cooperate with platforms such as 1688 to set up the "Made in Suzhou" online zone and pavilion and join Miolante to organize the "Suzhou Brand Online Exhibition" and broaden new sales channels for local enterprises.

Suzhou will organize the first store economic development conference, formulate and promulgate the first store economy-related supporting policies, and select a group of carriers and brands that have made significant contributions. It will focus on scene innovation and further enrich the first store economy connotation, enhance the city's commercial quality, and demonstrate the international characteristics of Suzhou consumption.

Suzhou will hold a number of cultural and tourism activities such as Culture and Tourism Consumption Month, the Gusu Twelve Niangs Customs Festival and the "Tang Bohu" Jiangnan Han Culture Festival.

Modern trends will be fused with Jiangnan culture, and themed cultural and creative products of the shopping festival in the West Hall of Suzhou Museum, the Jiangnan Small Theater and other real-life cultural immersive experience spaces, as well as a group of "national trendy time-honored brands" will be empowered.

With the coming of the Beijing Winter Olympics, a large wave of sports venues will open to the public for free or at low prices.

Suzhou will adopt a new marketing model for developing festival consumer brands, and use livestreamings and online recommendation to drive offline check-ins and create a new consumption mechanism where online drainage and offline experiences mutually promote each other.

It will also cooperate with popular social platforms to promote delicious and fun places in Suzhou, unlock new tricks of urban life and attract young people and outsiders to have a try by themselves.

It will use the resources of large platforms such as Douyin, Bilibili and Xiaohongshu to introduce co-branded IPs and create a batch of new Internet celebrity check-in locations.

Night-time consumption activities with the slogan "Night ZUI Suzhou" will be introduced to increase the vitality of Suzhou's night economy. Activities such as the Night Economy Thousand Enterprises Alliance, the Night Economy Consumption Map and the Night Economy CEO will continue to be carried out.

Seasonal products, traditional festivals and leading platforms will be used to enlarge Suzhou's catering market through creative dishes, promotions and low-cost packages.

Suzhou will also promote non-contact consumption concepts. It will create a batch of Internet celebrity foods, strengthen cooperation with platforms such as Meituan Dianping and Ali Local Life, and carry out themed activities such as "Looking for Suzhou Snacks" by way of list selection.

It will promote Suzhou cuisine with centuries-old brands such as Songhe Tower and Deyue Tower, and will launch new high-quality dishes.

With the help of open platforms such as the China International Import Expo and the construction of the Hongqiao International Open Hub, Suzhou will expand the supply of high-quality imported goods and the introduction of international brands through multiple channels.

It will hold special activities such as the Sino-Japanese Commodity Cultural Exchange, Taicang German Beer Festival and Taiwanese-style fairs to bring more exotic cultures and commodities to citizens.

It will organize activities themed the "China International Import Expo Commodities" and the 2021 One Belt One Road Famous Product Exhibition to showcase and sell products from nearly 60 countries and cities, as well as intangible cultural heritage and time-honored products from Suzhou.
